Serves 2
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup graham wafer crumbs
2tbsp chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds, peanuts)
3/4 cup peeled Granny Smith apples, finely chopped
1/4 tsp cinnamon
16 wonton wrappers
1 egg, beaten
Powdered sugar (optional)
Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep pan to 350F.
Toss together sugar, graham crumbs, walnuts, apples and
cinnamon.
Brush edges of wrappers with beaten egg and place a teaspoon of apple mixture
on each. Fold wrappers diagonally, press edges to seal, and set aside on a plastic
or silicone lined
baking sheet.
Fry wontons in batches for 45 seconds per side or until
golden .
Drain on paper towels. Coat with powdered sugar, or sauce of your liking, (mm
marinade, maple syrup or heated marmalade would be yummy), garnish as desidered
and serve.
The picture in the magazine looks quite elegant.(Presentation is everything).
Methinks this makes a nice brekkie starter course, (a natural go-with for ham,
bacon or sausage), or a spiffy after dinner dessert. Quick 'n easy too.
