Bread Stick

Here is one from me that I make quite often, They keep well in an air tight container.

6oz strong brown flour.
1 sachet of yeast 7grams
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 oz butter
1 oz sultanas
1 oz raisins
Half a beaten egg.3.5 fl oz warm water 43c

Pre heat oven to gas 7

Mix all the dry ingredients plus butter. Mix the egg into water and then add to dry mix before the egg cooks. Knead and roll out into a 12-inch x 5-inch square. Dust lightly with flour and pat. Cut into 3/4 inch strips. Then put on parchment paper on a tray, leaving some spaces so they do not join up. Leave for 45 minutes to rise ( or double in size)in a warmish place. (Not too hot)

Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.

You then cut the fingers in half (when cold) and butter and eat. They are yummy.

You can also do this bread with other things like just olives or chilli peppers or dates or figs walnuts, dried tomatoes etc. But not to the same amount as the sultanas and raisins. (i.e. weight, just use your judgement)

Great for a snack, or with a salad or eaten without butter or served with a cheese board.

It would make a great egg dipper for breakfast
