This granola recipe has been used in our house since 1972 when I received it from a neighbour of mine at the time.
4 Cups large flake (Rogers) rolled oats. I use a mix of rolled wheat or any other grain that is rolled. (tasters choice as it where)
1 cup wheat germ
1 cup sunflower seeds
Sesame seeds, bran, flax
1 cup sliced almonds
1 cup milk powder
Heat together:
3/4 cup honey
3/4 cup oil. (I use half water)
Mix into dry ingredients and spread evenly over a large cookie sheet or two smaller ones. Bake 350° for 10 min. Stir well, return to oven for 5-6 min. and repeat this until the desired brownness apears.
Add:
1 cup washed raisins
Store in an ice cream pail for up to 1 month. It does not have to be refridgerated.
I use this as a topping on fruit cup/van. yogurt cup. Many times people like to eat only granola with milk or yogurt for their breakfast. This is really nice to have on hand at all times but especially when your guests are Vegan.
