RecipesI do a "poached pear" dish which goes over well, and really easy.
Peel, cut in half, core, place halves face down on dish pour a little lemon juice over, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, nuke for about 1 minute per 2 halves (depending on ripeness, you'll have to check when it's soft) and put on a plate. I serve it with drizzled raspberry coulis (I like it on the plate before I put the pear half down) and a dollop of cold vanilla sauce (lite sour cream, sugar and vanilla, to taste). Everyone has loved it. I used to give 2 halves per person but one is just fine.

My poached pears is similar but you add blueberries. Afraid I use canned pear halves, just easier and quicker. Taste the same, in my humble opinion. If they are smaller, I use 2 halves. Drain the pears, add a little water and a Tblsp. of lemon juice, sprinkle with brown sugar. Heat in the Micro for about 3 min. Add blueberries and heat 1 min. (if frozen berries, thaw them first a little) It's a good idea to ladle a little juice over the pears at the 3 min. mark. These are good with a little sour cream. I usually put the sour cream on in a side dish and let them try it themselves. You can vary it with lemon. Just use white sugar instead of the brown, and the zest of a lemon. When you serve it, use some curls of lemon zest on top of each pear. Rave reviews for this one.
